Favourite rooms in October

As usual, and I am sure like many of you, I have been down the rabbit warren of Instagram and Pinterest and my head is full of gorgeous rooms.  I have a few of my favourite rooms in October to show you, together with why I think these rooms are particularly good.

My Favourite Kitchen in October

Favourite Kitchen October
Erin Conway

Why I love this kitchen

  • I am a big fan of Erin Conway of Kismet House, so always gravitate towards her work.  Her style is beautifully classic.  In fact, this is actually part of a dining room, but it could easily work as kitchen cabinets which is why I have shown it here.
  • I particularly love the colour.  This soft blue/green grey works so well with the warm marble tones which are highlighted by the brass handles.  Don't think that you need a cool marble to work with a cool cabinet colour.  By introducing the brass handles and the wood accents, this cabinetry perfectly partners the warmer tones in the benchtop and splashback.
  • Adding shelving and v groove panelling adds to the beautiful appeal of this joinery.

Why I love this hallway

  • If you have either a very large home, or a very small one, you will certainly need to furnish this area.  In a large home with a grand entrance, the look can be forlorn without furniture, while in a small home, you need to make the most of every area, and it is quite likely that your stairway will be in your living room.  I therefore thought it was a good idea to show you how your furniture can relate to a set of stairs.
  • I really love the tiles on the stairs and also the black metal ballustrades.  With such a definite design element in the room, you need to ensure that the colour scheme you use in this space relates to this.
  • The grey linen sofa is a classic and beautiful in its understatement.  Good quality fabric for slip covers, comfort and a simple design work well here.
  • The soft rug with hints of tan to tie in the coffee table and armchair, with splatters of grey blue to work with the sofa, grounds the room and prevents it from appearing too heavy.

Why I love this living room

  • I can't go past soft greys this month.  The appeal for me with this room is the colour palette.  I really love the blue/green grey on the joinery with the rust coloured cushions.  These pick up the colour in the bricks perfectly.
  • The styling is lovely and relaxed with rattan elements and eucalyptus, which is one of my favourite types of greenery to style with.

My favourite bathroom

Why I love this bathroom

  • There isn't anything that I don't like about this gorgeous bathroom.
  • The vanity is the star of the show.  I love the classic design with open shelving that you can style with towels, the gorgeous marble benchtop, traditional tapware and mirror above to match the joinery.
  • I am a fan of undermounted sinks as they are timeless.
  • The freestanding bath is elegant and I love the herringbone flooring.
  • Beautifully styled finishing touches with greenery, wall lighting and rattan blinds to tie in with the baskets.  Beautiful colour palette and classic finishes.

My favourite bedroom in October

Why I love this bedroom

  • I really like the freshness of this room.  The blue and white striped bedhead and valance is perfect.  It is beautifully tailored and simple, but really sets the whole tone for the space.
  • The carpet is a really nice wool texture which gives the room a cosy feel.
  • The eclectic desk and chair work really well in the space and I love the tobacco coloured pillows.  This is a bold choice, but also the perfect foil to the blue and white and they also tie in the darker furniture.

My favourite dining space in October

DeVol Kitchens

Why I love this dining space

  • Firstly the bones of this room are amazing and I can't go past a DeVol kitchen, but it was the beautifully simple dining table that really caught my eye.  A dining table should be solid and simple in design so that nobody gets the leg!  This one achieves this look perfectly.
  • There is nothing nicer than a lovely homely kitchen with a long dining table in the space for convivial, relaxed dining.  Whether it is for two people or ten, the look is stunning as it is so welcoming.
  • The low back rattan dining chairs are perfect for this look and work well with the stunning pendant lights.  A really homely, welcoming room.
